What is ISCC International Sustainability and Carbon Certification?
ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) is a certification scheme that provides a solution for implementing and fulfilling sustainability requirements for different markets and sectors:
- Energy sector (including transport, electricity, heating and cooling energy);
- Agriculture and forestry sector;
- Food industry;
- Different industrial solutions (circular economy and bioeconomy).
Sustainability compliance shall be assessed through ecological and social criteria and the calculation and monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions, in particular CO2.
What is covered by the ISCC scheme?
The ISCC system is globally applicable and covers the entire supply chain, from the initial source of raw material, storage points, production units to the end user – i.e., from the field to the end user. In this way, the traceability of materials throughout the supply chain can be ensured and the emissions of greenhouse gases can be calculated and checked.
The ISCC system allows the certification to cover a very wide range of raw materials and related products:
- Agricultural and forest biomass;
- Biofuels and biogas;
- Waste and scrap (plastic, tall oil, straw, used cooking oil, etc.)
