increase the use of energy from renewable energy sources to combat climate change, protect the environment and reduce the EU&#8217;s energy dependence.<\/p><p>The EU has set targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to meet the 2015 Paris Agreement and to implement the EU&#8217;s climate and energy policy framework: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/policies\/european-green-deal\/\">The European Green Deal<\/a>.  <\/p><p>The European Green Deal aims to achieve a climate-neutral Europe by 2050. An important part of achieving the targets set is the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/strategy-and-policy\/priorities-2019-2024\/european-green-deal\/delivering-european-green-deal\/fit-55-delivering-proposals_en\">Fit for 55<\/a>&#8221; package,
