FSC® and PEFC certification

More than ever before, suppliers want to be sure that the wood and paper product used by them do not damage the environment or human health and are compliant with globally acknowledged social, economic, and environmental standards. An FSC® and PEFC chain of custody certificate is the best option for proving this.

A forest management certificate demonstrates that the owner of the forest manages their forests in an environment-friendly and sustainable manner and observes the requirements of the forest management standard. This includes monitoring of the developments occurring in the forest, making sure that a new generation of the forest can grow, keeping an eye on the health of the forests, and preserving the natural diversity. By certifying your forests based on the FSC® or PEFC forest management system, you will prove your dedication to responsible forest management and internationally acknowledged rules.

The purpose of the regulation of construction products and CE marking is to eliminate technical obstacles between member states in trading in the European Economic Area. A CE marking and a declaration of performance contain important information about the product which helps the clients and end users to check the performance of the product and compare it to other products. A CE marking shows that the manufacturer has assessed the product pursuant to the applicable requirements and the product is compliant with the safety, health, and environmental requirements of the European Union.

UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK marking for products intended for the UK (England, Wales and Scotland) market. It replaces the CE marking and becomes mandatory for certain products. If you are a manufacturer or distributor of products in the EU or the UK and you want to sell your products on the UK market, you need to be aware of these changes as they may have a significant impact on your trading opportunities.

Climate change and worry for environmental sustainability concern all of us and are becoming an increasing threat to the development and growth of businesses. The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification system (ISCC) is designed to assess environmental impacts and ensure compliance with EU‘s renewable energy (RED) and fuel quality (EQD) directives. ISCC certification ensures compliance with ecological and social sustainability requirements, greenhouse gas savings and supply chain traceabilit.

.

According to the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II), the use of energy from renewable sources will be subject to the burden of proof from January 1, 2023. When using biomass to produce electricity, heat and cooling energy, it is necessary to collect and prove data on the origin and to ensure that biomass meets sustainability criteria. The SURE system is one way to prove this.

We provide various trainings and organise information days in order to raise awareness. Our experienced auditors have a good overview of what is going on at the forestry and wood industry, as well as of the various related certification schemes and standards. If you need a better overview of standards, regulations (e.g. The European Union timber regulation (EUTR), strength grading – C16/C24) or directives or further explanations – please do not hesitate to contact us.
